A New 600 NMR Facility to be Installed in Chemistry. The National Science Foundation’s (NSF) recently granted an award of $550,000 to BU Chemistry under a “Major Research Instrumentation Program” led by Professor Eriks Rozners. This fund will be used to setup a new laboratory with a state-of-the-art nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) system. The new multi-user NMR instrument will support Professor Rozners and his colleagues in expanding their research in new directions. |

Student from ACS Binghamton Section selected for US International Chemistry Olympiad team. Colin Lu (Vestal High School, NY) from ACS Binghamton Section was recently selected for US International Chemistry Olympiad team, and will travel to Cambridge, England, together with three other US team members to compete against students from 66 other countries at the International Chemistry Olympiad, July 18-27, 2009. more >> |

Former ACS President Visits BU & Four Chemistry Scholars Win ACS (Binghamton Section) Awards The 2009 Binghamton Section of the American Chemical Society (ACS) held its awards ceremony in the science library on May 6. Prof. Bruce Bursten, the immediate past president of the ACS, gave a lecture on the Centrality of Chemistry. Four Chemistry students and faculty received awards including, Mr. Justin Che (graduating senior), Dr. Jie Xiao (PhD graduate), Dr. Alexsa Silva and Dr. Mark Poliks. more >> |

Jun Zhang, a Chemistry Ph.D. graduate student working with Professor James Fang, has been awarded a Binghamton University Graduate Student Award for Excellence in Research 2008-09.The research awards are given once a year to 10-15 graduate students university-wide. more >> |
